Terms of Association

Terms governing your membership, use of our services, and participation in WIM Ghana activities.

These Terms of Association (“Terms”) govern your relationship with Women In Mining (WIM) Ghana, a company limited by guarantee registered under the laws of the Republic of Ghana. By becoming a member, registering for events, making a donation, or using our website at wimghana.org (“the Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Definitions

  • “WIM Ghana” refers to Women In Mining Ghana, its Board of Directors, officers, employees, and authorised agents.
  • “Member” refers to any individual or corporate entity that has completed the membership registration process and paid applicable dues.
  • “Platform” refers to the WIM Ghana website, member portal, mobile applications, and any digital services operated by WIM Ghana.

2. Membership

2.1 Eligibility

Membership is open to all women and allies working in or connected to Ghana’s extractives sector, including mining, oil & gas, quarrying, and related support industries. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

2.2 Tiers

WIM Ghana offers Individual and Corporate membership tiers, each with distinct benefits and annual dues as published on the membership page. Membership is valid for 12 months from the date of payment.

2.3 Renewal & Expiry

Members will receive email reminders 30, 14, and 7 days before expiry. After expiry, access to member-only resources and digital membership cards will be suspended until renewal is completed.

2.4 Termination

WIM Ghana reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership for conduct that violates these Terms, the WIM Ghana constitution, or brings the organisation into disrepute. Members may cancel at any time by writing to admin@wimghana.org. Dues already paid are non-refundable.

3. Code of Conduct

All members and participants agree to:

  • Act with integrity, professionalism, and respect towards all members, staff, and stakeholders.
  • Refrain from harassment, discrimination, or any form of abusive behaviour at WIM Ghana events and on digital platforms.
  • Respect the confidentiality of member information and internal discussions.
  • Not misuse the WIM Ghana name, logo, or brand without prior written authorisation.

4. Use of the Platform

4.1 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

4.2 Acceptable Use

You may not:

  • Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of Ghanaian law.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform, other accounts, or connected systems.
  • Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or any harmful code.
  • Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Platform without express written permission.

4.3 Intellectual Property

All content on the Platform — including text, graphics, logos, images, and software — is the property of WIM Ghana or its licensors and is protected by copyright and trademark laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without prior written consent.

5. Events & Programmes

Registration for WIM Ghana events constitutes acceptance of event- specific terms communicated at the time of registration. WIM Ghana reserves the right to modify event dates, venues, or formats due to circumstances beyond its control. Refund policies for paid events will be stated on the event registration page.

6. Payments & Donations

All payments are processed securely through Paystack and are denominated in Ghana Cedis (GHS) unless otherwise stated. Donation receipts are issued electronically. WIM Ghana is a non-profit organisation; donations are used solely to advance our mission.

7. Merchandise

Items purchased through the WIM Ghana Shop are subject to availability. Prices are listed in GHS and include applicable taxes. Delivery timelines and return policies are communicated at the point of purchase.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Ghanaian law, WIM Ghana shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of our services or participation in our programmes. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount of membership dues paid by you in the preceding 12 months.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless WIM Ghana, its directors, officers, and employees from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your breach of these Terms or misuse of the Platform.

10. Data Protection

Your personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). Where applicable, we also comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

11. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Ghana. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall first be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes shall be referred to arbitration under the Alternative Dispute Resolution Act, 2010 (Act 798) in Accra, Ghana.

12. Amendments

WIM Ghana reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated to members via email and posted on this page. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
